SYNERG STORIES

Living Green

Living Green Photo

Brian Higgins is a transplant from the Pacific Northwest with a master’s degree in landscape design. After moving to Greensboro he wasted no time setting up a Green Drinks - a social way for people with green minds, green hearts, and green passions to gather on a regular basis to meet others who "lean green".  As a way to create more opportunities for citizens, businesses and government to collaborate, Brian started Sustainable Greensboro, a clearinghouse for information and a catalyst for advancing sustainability.  “Now is the time to be a part of shaping Greensboro for the next 200 years,” he said. The progress he has made with Sustainable Greensboro has also provided him other opportunities, specifically a seat on the Downtown Greenway Oversight Committee.  Greensboro has an opportunity to be a leader rather than a follower. There’s really no reason why Greensboro can’t be mentioned in the same breath with Seattle and Portland.”

Outside of his work with Sustainable Greensboro, Brian serves as the Vice President of the Glenwood Neighborhood Association the neighborhood where he lives in a 1935 bungalow. He and his wife Jill frequent Triad Stage, Greensboro Grasshopper Games, the Farmers Market and they enjoy kayaking on the local lakes.
